The Fall

As I said in my Thanksgiving post, I was concerned about layoffs here at Pixelworks. Well, the rumors turned out to be true, but done in an interesting way. Instead of just saying today is your last day and handing you a check, they are giving us a "transition period" to get our work transitioned off. As mine isn't too hard, I will go with the first wave at the end of January, and collect my very fair severance at that time.

Honestly, if I could have personally designed my exit strategy, it would be almost like this.

Here's an article from the Oregonian on the "restructuring."

Thanksgiving Redux

Liz, Cait, Joan, Meg, and Jim giving their warmest greetings

We had a great weekend out on the coast. Meg and I stayed with her family at their home on the beach in Waldport. The food was great and we had a fantastic run of weather from whipping wind and rain to beautiful sun. My thanks to the Upshaw clan for making it such a great Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone who reads this has a great thanksgiving! I'll be out at the coast with Meg and her family. May you all eat too much and enjoy the long weekend! I get to look forward to seeing if the big layoff rumors are true or not on my return. That could be something to be thankful for...

I Sell Cars!

[This is NSFW (Not Safe For Work) and Mom, you can't watch it either]

I didn't know I sold cars until today, but I must say, I like my style!

Vote!

Me, completely, totally and utterly rocking the vote.

So, I get a two year extension on my license to bitch about the government. Do you?

Slave Labor

The lovely Meg, hard at work pulling staples

Yes, it is finished!

Now to paint and install the baseboards.

House Update

The pellet stove is in and very toasty.

I only have the final row and the baseboards to do on the laminate upstairs. Next up is to tackling the stairs which will require a bit of re-engineering and then the built in desk.

Rejuvination of Casa Bill

The remodeling continues. The paint looks absolutely fantastic. New wide faux wood blinds are in, and most importantly, the carpet in the loft is out.

I was hoping to pull up carpet to find hardwood beneath, but alas, they didn't do such things in the 80's (I guess they were too focused on acid wash jeans). I get particle boards. Lots of it. Also, my house is now fully booby trapped with a punji stick forest of tack strips and staples. Keep your shoes on...
