Death Weekend in Sun Valley

Me, contemplating what painful adventure Michael has in store next...

I took a Friday off and headed over to Boise for an active weekend. I got to spend the afternoon catching up with Michaels wife Jennifer, as I haven't seen her in a while. Before the end of the work day, I ran over and picked up the bike I reserved. The first time on a full suspension or disk brakes for me. After Michael got off work, we loaded up the rig and headed out to Ketchum.

Saturday morning we met up with Jeremy and Porter who drove out from Boise that morning and headed to the Prairie Lakes to Miner Lake trail. This route was fun with some technical uphill and a steep downhill. We encountered everything from sun, clouds, rain, and snow on the ride. After finishing that, we headed back to Ketchum for some pickup Ultimate. Some very good Ultimate talent resides there and it was a great game. Wish I had my cleats (I blame Lauber for not adding Ulti to the itinerary ;). That night we headed out to Krista's, and she had the BBQ going with steaks and veggies, along with the cold beer. We then enjoyed a nice fire late into the evening.

We hadn't quite killed ourselves, so we got up on Sunday to hit another trail. Jeremy and Porter went back to Boise, but we picked up Chris. We headed out to the Greenhorn Gulch to Red Warrior trail. Krista again came through and gave us a ride back to our rig and then we headed back to Boise for some giant slabs of pizza.

A very nice weekend indeed.

My Own Cartoon?

I sent the picture you see under the "About Me" in the right-hand column to Iconize Me and this is what I got back. Add a little goatee, and I think I could pass for Shaggy!

Congratulations Adriane and Sam

I've had the pictures up for a bit now. Just getting around to the post! Adriane and Sam were married back on August 20th. Kevin was the main photographer (I was supposed to be in Turkey) so I played around a lot. Here's what I took.

Training Pays!

Map of Pints to Pasta 10K

If you remember my pace from the Run Hit Wonder (7:44/mile) and the Hood to Coast (7:14/mile), I can now conclusively prove that training works. I did the Pints to Pasta 10K in 41:59. That's 6:46/mile! My legs were burning and I felt like my lungs were going to explode, but that's a personal best 10K for me! I think the winner pumped out 5:10 miles or something ridiculous, but I'm happy. Glad to have my legs back!

The data above was gathered from my new training parting, the Garmin Forerunner 301. Click on the picture to get all of the data from my run (OK, I know you guys don't care, but I think it's cool!). It does pretty well at grabbing all of the data for the run and it gives a geek like myself incentive to get out there to add more data to the system.
