Off to Costa Rica

Saturday Meg and I leave for two weeks in Costa Rica. Check back here from time to time. You never know if I'll find a net connection, or I just might find more time for the beach!

Well, another year and another Race to Robie Creek. This year makes six in a row for me. Scary! Well, this year was much better than last year. Last year I was moving to Turkey "any day now", so didn't even think about training. This year, I trained. Not as much as I should, but what's new? So, this years time is 1:53:50. That is my second best time ever. Not to shabby. However, everyone else I was running against got their personal best. I guess I better step it up next year!

Of course, the run was followed by pizza and beer at Lucky 13, then a nice leg burning mountain bike ride on Sunday. Always good fun.

And this, by the way, is post 100 for this blog. I hope you are still enjoying it!

FJ Update

The FJ in springtime

This update is for Josh, if that is your real name...

I have been having an awesome time riding around in the FJ. It's smooth, quiet, powerful, built well, and all that, but who cares about that. I'm sure Camry owners can say the same thing. This rig is just pain fun to drive around. I have a pretty good grin on every time I am in it. It's amazing how many people gawk at it going down the road. People stop me when I get out and ask tons of questions. I think this is as close to rock star status as I'll ever get. I'm loving every minute of it!

I haven't taken her wheelin' yet. Currently scared to get the first scratch. I have been making it mine, which is good. Early after the purchase, it felt like I was test driving it every time I took it out. Now, with my MP3 player and a few other 'me' things in there, it is starting to feel like mine.

The mighty Subaru

The Subaru is gone. I had this one (my third) for almost exactly five years. We had a lot of good times (numerous hiking/camping/biking/skiing/... adventures) and a few bad (Christmas Eve Day in Spokane). I'll miss her. Craigslist proved again to be an awesome resource, and in just a couple days, the Subie was sold.
