Who needs two weeks?

Me, enjoying the new car smell

I got a call from my dealer last night down in McMinnville. He said he had a rig show up that they weren't expecting. He wondered if I wanted it. Well, as a matter of fact, I did!

Now I can start being an environmental terrorist all the sooner! Mom and Dad were driving back to Montana today from Ashland, so they got to stop and take a spin.

In two weeks...

...I'll have a new ride:

Change of Plans

My second post to this blog was about my preparations for Turkey. My entire idea for the blog was to stay in communication when I moved over there. Now, plans have changed in a big way: I'm no longer moving to Turkey. And sorry, but I can't post details here.

Birthday Weekend

My Birthday was last Friday where I clicked over to 32. Thanks to all who sent cards, gifts, e-mails, comment posts, phone calls, e-cards, or some combination there of. They were very appreciated!

I was able to get out of town for the weekend. Meg and I headed over to my Uncle's place in Sunriver. It had been snowing over there the entire week. We woke up Saturday morning and headed to Mt. Bachelor. They hadn't opened the summit all week, so it was just waiting with multiple feet of fresh, dry powder. Best powder day that I can remember. The day was a true perma-grin day! For the full details, click the map below:

Who knew you went over 50 miles in a day of skiing? That night, we went to the Deschutes Brewpub for the birthday diner. Nice and low-key, but with great beer. Meg told the waitress about my birthday, so a candle came out on my cake. There was no song from her, as she said she wouldn't inflict that even on her friends. However, right as were finishing, a big group came around us and must have seen the candle. They asked who's birthday it was and my name. Suddenly, about 20 guys were singing me happy birthday in great multi-part harmony. It turns out, the Portland Gay Men's Chours was in Bend for a performance and came to the brewery for dinner. In turn, I got the "in only happens in a sit-com" birthday!

Sunday was beautifully sunny. We took it easy in the morning, then headed out to the Edison Snowshoe Trails. The white snow and brilliant sunlight made it quite warm out there. We did the long loop (3.5 miles) and it was just beautiful and peaceful with all the fresh snow around. And of course, for the full details, click the map below:

It was an awesome weekend!
